Clasico not really what is bothering him now – Zidane speaks on risking Eden Hazard

Eden Hazard doesn’t want to take any risks. Neither Zinedine Zidane nor, to an even greater extent, the Real Madrid hierarchy.

That unwillingness to push things too far means that no one is placing any pressure on the Belgian to see his return from injury, and that he will not be at Camp Nou on October 24 for the first Clasico season with Barcelona.

The priority is for Hazard to rediscover his confidence, his morale and his physical form before thinking about getting back on the pitch. Nobody is rushing him and the desire is for him to return as good as he can be, rather than to force things too quickly and get him back at 80 or 90 percent.

The No.7 has endured a bad time at Real Madrid and his last 11 months have been nothing more than forgettable. It was on November 29, 2019 that he was injured under a challenge from compatriot Thomas Meunier and his ordeal began.

Everyone knows what he needs. Zinedine Zidane and Roberto Martinez are both aware that training is important to get him back to his best again.

As things stand, no date has been set for his return. There is no date or game that is being used as something to aim towards. Playing in the Clasico would undoubtedly be a bonus for the player and Real Madrid, but nobody wants to take any risks.

For now, Hazard is continuing his recovery process and he still hasn’t set foot back on the grass at Valdebebas. He’s working indoors alongside Alvaro Odriozola and Dani Carvajal, both of whom will also be missing against Barcelona.

Nothing but misfortune has accompanied Hazard since he joined Real Madrid. He’s suffered two muscular injuries and an ankle problem that saw him undergo surgery.
