Former Finance Minister, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has been voted into power, as the new Director-General of the World Trade Organisation ( WTO).
This is according to Wednesday reports monitored on Arise TV by Naija News.
For the heavily contested spot, Okonjo-Iweala beat her fellow finalist, Ms Yoo Myung-hee of South Korea, by a broad margin.
The development is understood to be officially confirmed later today (3pm Nigerian time) by the WTO.
Our reporter also heard that Okonjo-Iweala had collected 104 votes from 164 member states to beat South Korea’s Myung-hee in the final stage of the international job battle.
