Yakubu Mahmood, Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), announced that electronic voting might be implemented in Anambra governorship election come 2021.
This was announced by the Chairman of the Electoral Commission during the Budget Protection Session with the INEC House of Representatives Committee.
Yakubu also said that they were looking at better ways to administer free and fair elections in the country.
“I, however, urge the Senate to approve the spending of N5.2 billion from the special INEC fund to make up for the shortfall in the 2020 budget which was reduced due to the Coronavirus pandemic,” he said.
Recall that the Commission had announced that eligible voters’ registration exercise will commence in 2021 ahead of 2023 general election.
