Mikel Arteta cautious over Leeds’ threat amid Sunday’s clash

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta expects a difficult match against Leeds United when the two sides meet at Elland Road on Sunday.

The Gunners will be eager to bounce back to winning ways after their surprise 3-0 home loss to Aston Villa before the break, but will come up against a tricky opponent on the prom side.

Speaking ahead of the weekend fixture, the Spaniard also paid a brilliant tribute to the Whites boss, Marcelo Bielsa.

“They’re a very difficult opponent,” Mikel Arteta said. “I know Marcelo really well because I have followed him over the years.

“I had the possibility to work with players who have been involved with him for years and he is a manager I have always admired because what he transmits to his players and the way he manages to get his teams playing is very special.

“They’re going to go 100mph for every ball, the way they press you, the way they challenge you, the way they go about the game for 96 minutes. They will make it a really difficult and really intense game.”

Having started the campaign impressively, Leeds seem to have hit a rough patch, winning only one of their last five matches.

They are currently 15th in the table on 10 points from eight matches, while their Sunday opponents are two points ahead of them in 11th.
