In spite of many claiming that they can pose a challenge this season, Chelsea FC boss Frank Lampard has played down the club’s title chances.
On a day when, after beating Leeds United, they went on top of the log (before Spurs won against Arsenal on Sunday), Lampard said his main objective now was to score goals and win games.
“I’m not too concerned about anyone else. After we played Southampton, there were a lot of questions and my job is to find a solution. The players are answering them at the moment, so we need to just think about the next game and not about the big picture, and the league will pan itself out,” Lampard said as quoted by The Independent.
In the game, Patrick Bamford’s scored an early goal but the hosts turned the tide in their favour with three goals from Olivier Giroud, Kurt Zouma and Christian Pulisic.
There have been claims that Chelsea is a well-oiled team with the club having a record of 13 different players scoring this season with Ngolo Kante saying that the players were not concerned with who scores for the team as long as they are winning.
“I haven’t had many chances, but as long as the team keeps scoring, winning and taking points, it’s OK for me not to score,” Kante said.
