Manchester City confirmed three new COVID-19 cases ahead of the Carabao Cup semi-final clash against its neighbors Man United.
In a statement, the club confirmed that Scott Carson, Cole Palmer, and one member of staff tested positive for the virus, days after five members tested positive.
A statement from the club read;
“Manchester City FC can confirm that Scott Carson, Cole Palmer, and one member of staff have tested positive for COVID-19.
“Both personnel will now observe a period of self-isolation in accordance with Premier League and UK Government protocol on quarantine.
“Everyone at the Club wishes Scott, Cole and all of our other colleagues a speedy recovery ahead of their return to work, training and competition,”
City have become the most-hit club in the Premier League in recent weeks, with a total of eight players now affected.
It is the same situation overall, with the Premier League recording a record high 40 new cases of both players and staff in the past week.
The cases in the United Kingdom have equally sky-rocketed in recent weeks, once again threatening sporting activities including the Premier League.
